VIDEO: WELLBEING & FRIENDOLOGY AT NBCS
At Northern Beaches Christian School (NBCS), students are not only learning academics—they’re learning the skills to build strong, meaningful friendships and navigate life’s challenges with confidence. NBCS has embraced our Friendology friendship skills curriculum to equip students with the tools to become better friends and develop healthier relationships.
“We use the URSTRONG Friendology program to give our students practical strategies for friendship and connection,” says Julie Smith, Head of Primary. “It’s wonderful to see students applying these skills in their day-to-day interactions and supporting each other through challenges.”
NBCS believes that challenges and obstacles are a natural part of life. Their approach guides students through difficult times, helping them face fears, build resilience, and emerge stronger.
“Our aim is to instil confidence and strength in our students so they can navigate tough situations with resilience,” Julie adds.
The school takes their commitment to friendship skills even further by using URSTRONG’s Friendship Journal as their daily planner, ensuring that friendship skills are reinforced every day. Classrooms are adorned with URSTRONG posters, and the playground features giant signs highlighting core Friendology principles like the Friend-o-Meter and Friendship Facts. This consistent presence helps embed social-emotional learning into daily school life.
NBCS has been a proud URSTRONG partner since 2020, hosting both Dana Kerford and Tyson Greenwood multiple times to engage with students and staff.
Dana Kerford, Founder of URSTRONG, reflects on the partnership:
“Northern Beaches Christian School truly embodies the spirit of URSTRONG. By focusing on both the social and emotional growth of their students, they’re preparing children not just to succeed in school, but to thrive in life.”
Through their ongoing partnership with URSTRONG, NBCS is helping students build a foundation of friendship, confidence, and resilience—skills that will serve them for years to come.
