Jess Orr is an Experienced Educator & URSTRONG’s Leader of School Engagement

Jess Orr has been in education for almost 20 years. She began her career as a Secondary College Economics and Psychology classroom teacher, with a love of student management and connection.

Jess was appointed as a middle level year coordinator in her second year of teaching and continued to work as a year level coordinator. She was also appointed a leading teacher position as the Head of the year 9 program. Jess went on to become an inaugural leader in the Teaching Academies of Professional Practice at Deakin University in Melbourne, VIC. In this role, she sought to reform Initial Teacher Education – supporting the development of Pre-Service Teachers and working to develop immersive and collaborative programs/projects across the primary, secondary and university sectors.

This is where Jess met Michael and Dana, working collaboratively to bring URSTRONG to final year preservice teachers across all undergraduate courses across three university campuses. Thanks to Jess, hundreds of PSTs were given access to Friendology Educator Training with URSTRONG’s Founder, Dana.

More recently, Jess has worked as the Education Leader for TransformUs at Deakin University, a whole-school engagement initiative that aims to improve the academic, health and wellbeing outcomes of students using physical activity, both within the classroom and beyond.

Jess enjoys connecting and collaborating with and supporting schools to achieve positive outcomes for their students and school community.
