Do your students sometimes find it hard to sit still and focus? Are they wound up and feeling squirrely? Does it seem like they’re not coping with the normal school day routines?
All of us have trouble relaxing and staying focused at times – even grown-ups! (Right, teachers!?) Just like how our bodies need movement, our minds need to be still. If our brains never rest, they get all swirly and whirly and stop working well!
Doing mindful activities give our brains the break they need. Mindfulness is a practice that helps us to relax, focus and just be in the present moment, right where we are. It can also help us to visualize the best version of ourselves. Mindfulness can help us to focus on a thought or feeling and get comfortable with it too.
At URSTRONG, we know that it is important to be kind to ourselves and others. However, we also know that this can take a little practice. Practicing mindfulness exercises can help you to be calm and kind to yourself and others.
This lesson is designed to help students to calm their minds and bodies, so they are better able to cope with the challenges of everyday life and be more present in their relationships and learning.
